The last of the line of Waldeck-Eisenberg

On the 31 January 1620, Georg Friedrich of Waldeck was born. He had an impressive military career in service of the Brandenburg and the Dutch Republic. After stadtholder William III went to England to claim the throne, he became Field Marshal of the Dutch forces in the War of the Grand Alliance and lead his troops to the victory at Walcourt in 1689. In terms of this children, he was less lucky though. His wife Christine of Erbach gave him nine children! Yet, since he outlived all of his five sons, he still died without a male heir. It made him the last in the line of Waldeck-Eisenberg; after his death the principality went to the Waldeck-Wildungen line.
