The easiest way to find the portrait you are looking for, is to search by name. Please note that we, at The Online Portrait Gallery, have added every person under his or her English name. For most people, this will be the same as their name in their native language, but some people have a different name in English. Take for example Louis XIV of France (1638 – 1715) or Frederick III, Elector of Saxony (1463 – 1525), whose names are usually translated. So, be sure to always use someone’s English name, when you are searching for him.
